Update on WADR-LPFM, Wisconsin’s Alternative Destination Radio:
We begin to broadcast live online April 15th by bringing our listeners the Beloit Snappers season opener. The games will be called by voice of the Snappers, WADR’s own David Krapf. To listen, go to JanesvilleCommunityRadio.com and click “Listen Live“ at the top on the right. Imagine going to the Pohlman Field, and on your smart phone listening to David call the game as you are watching it! Starting tomorrow this will be a reality. Don’t forget to stop by and say ‘Hi’ to David and the crew while you’re there.
Next, as the rest of our programs transition from BlogTalkRadio – a format we’ve been using since November 2013 – to join the Snappers on our dedicated internet stream, we will have a limited broadcasting schedule featuring our current roster of about 15 original regular shows. This means that there will be times when there will be silence between the programs. However, not too long from now, we will grow our schedule with local DJs and more local talk shows, to allow WADR to broadcast at least 40 hours per week starting in June, as required by FCC. I also expect to have a news program, a game show featuring in studio participants winning prizes from local businesses, as well as other creative and original programs.
Then in June (the exact date is yet to be determined), we will add LPFM signal at 103.5 FM to our arsenal of ways to reach our audience in Janesville and beyond. That will be another game changer for us and for the community. Our signal we reach anywhere between 3 and 10 miles from the station, which will allow us to cover most of Janesville and surrounding areas.
Of course none of this is possible without your help. Our community has been most generous to WADR, donating equipment and making generous financial contributions. Still, more help is needed because the tower is yet to be put up, and more equipment is needed. Please consider making a generous, tax deductible contribution to Janesville’s community radio now, an independent listener supported enterprise. Thank you and stay tuned.
